Covid19 and keeping safe

Update - We have temporarily changed our hours to 9-1 Monday to Saturday to better reduce risk of exposure to staff and clients.

Update - our provincial association has temporarily changed the rules so that we can create the 'veterinarian/client/patient relationship' through telemedicine and therefore dispense or prescribe to a pharmacy medications for your pet after a telemed consult/without a physical examination

Update - the telemed email address is (at this point) only for setting up telemed appointments, not for general questions.  Please address those questions to our clinic staff who are still hard at work 6 days a week and can pass on any messages to Dr Rolfe or book appointments as necessary.

Our number one focus is the health of our patients,  however, we must also protect our pet parents and our own staff in these interesting times.

We are keeping the doors locked and asking our clients to come in to the office one at a time, to ensure limited contact.  All surfaces are cleaned regularly with an accelerated peroxide based disinfectant.  Please use the tap function if possible when paying, otherwise sanitize before and after touching the point of sale unit.  We would prefer not to handle cash if possible.

We have coverage in the clinic Monday, March 23, but there will be no appointments in the clinic for the remainder of that week as Dr. Rolfe is in a 14 day isolation due to recent travel.  The clinic will remain open for food sales and medication refills. We are setting up a 'telehealth' system, with a dedicated email address.  We will be monitoring that email address to answer questions and book consultations for a reduced fee.  Unfortunately, we will only be able to service clients with which we have already established a relationship as our association bylaws state that we have to have a client/patient/veterinary relationship to provide any treatments.

The situation is constantly changing.  We will remain open for food sales and medication refills as long as our staff remain healthy and the government allows us to remain open.  We are currently planning on rescheduling necessary surgeries and vaccinations to the last week of March, but of course that may change also.

The dedicated email address is telemed.THCvet@gmail.com.  Please know that telehealth is the poor second cousin to an actual physical examination.  If your pet's situation is critical, call one of the animal emergency hospitals to see what their policy is at this time.

Stay safe everyone!  Love from isolation, Jay and Margaret Rolfe

A locally and privately owned veterinary clinic

Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic is located in the beautiful Westshore area of Greater Victoria.  We are a full service veterinary clinic, providing surgery, dentistry, radiology, laboratory and of course examinations and consultations to our clients and their beloved pets.  We are happy to see your dog, cat, bird or reptile.*

Dr Jay Rolfe has been practicing in the Victoria area for over 30 years, starting as an emergency doctor at the Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital, founding the Avian Clinic, which became part of Victoria Veterinary Clinic, then expanding to the Glanford Animal Hospital and finally the Thetis Heights Veterinary Clinic.  He has recently contracted his practice to concentrate on better serving his clients from one location.
